People join Toastmasters for a variety of reasons. Professional advancement is certainly a key factor for some, improving self confidence, your ability to engage in conversation - the list is endless, but personal to each individual.

Every year each club holds in house speech competitions, which cover each category (humorous, table topics/impromptu, evaluations and international).
​One of our wonderful Toasties, Tammy, recently placed third at the divisional speech competition in Gympie last month. It was a fantastic day to observe and listen to speakers from other clubs and districts, and really be part of the Toastmasters experience.
​
This journey is one of the best self development platforms you can be part of - but you have to continually show up and keep putting yourself out there. Nothing happens through wishful thinking. And that's what Tammy does. We were so proud of her performance, and know without a doubt that she'll be back for more next year!

Sometimes, things just click for our guests, and everything lines up exactly as its meant to. They make quick decisions, and see the value in how Toastmasters can shape them - and they can see themselves being part of our wonderful community.

Upon asking Jacquie why she joined Toastmasters, she said this....."I joined on a recommendation from my brother, who said it was a great way to build communication skills, become more confident in public speaking and overcome social anxiety. I hope that it can help me build skills in both my personal and professional life, and be fun along the way."

Toastmasters is not just about showing up and going through the motions. It involves goal setting, planning and taking action. Pretty much like life, right?

Toastmasters provides a platform called Pathways, which offers you suggested outcomes, according to what you'd like to achieve. You pick and choose your next goal along the way, and each next step pushes you a little further, a little deeper.
We celebrate each member who achieves another milestone in their Toastmaster journey, by completing another level in Pathways.
